Birr held their 47th Annual Vintage Week and Arts Festival from July 31st to August 7th, and amazingly this was the first time for us to become a part of this historic event! We came on-board as Diamond sponsors and had a wonderful time really getting involved in the local community and the exciting events. The festival was a huge success with a variety of activities going on the whole week, from shows in the theatre to street art, to the amazing air show and the delicious food market. We were delighted to be a part of the Artisan Food Market on Green Street which was held on the Saturday and Sunday, and our vintage Citroen H Van got a great reaction from the crowds, as did our delightful dishes! It was the first time for us to serve food to customers as opposed to selling products to take home. The response was fantastic and it was great to hear from the customers how much they love the Rudd’s products. We served our Filled Rashers with relish, a side salad and toasted ciabatta with a garlic and herb butter, and yes it did taste as good as it sounds! We then took our van to the Air Show on Monday to sample out our rashers and sausages. The show was spectacular and was action-packed from start to finish, with a plane travelling over from England for literally a flying visit, as it performed and flew straight back to England without so much as the wheels touching Irish soil. The coastguard also made an appearance in a hugely expensive, and loud, helicopter which was amazing to see!
August was definitely a month of firsts for Rudd’s, as we took our vintage Citroen all the way to Dublin for The Big Grill, which was held in Herbert Park and was a fantastic venue. We were lucky enough to have an amazing day of sunshine on the Thursday which brought in a great crowd of people and a wonderful atmosphere. Our ‘Sausage on a Stick’ went down a storm, so much so that we had to run out to buy more skewers on the Saturday! The Big Grill is a wonderfully chilled out and fun festival that Rudd’s will definitely be attending again, making sure to come equipped with enough skewers to feed an army!
